In the history of Native American culture, tribes thrived on the wisdom of nature. Among that wisdom being the planting of The Three Sisters - corn, beans and squash. As the heat of summer caused crops to wither under an unrelenting sun, the elders shared this tale:

"Long ago, the Great Spirit gifted our ancestors with three sisters—Corn, Bean, and Squash. Each had a unique gift, but it was only together that their true power was revealed. Corn, standing tall and proud, reached for the sky with golden tassels providing a sturdy stalk; a strong foundation for her sisters. Bean, with her tender vines, wrapped herself around Corn, drawing strength and climbing high. Squash, with her broad, sheltering leaves spread out on the ground protecting the soil and keeping it moist and cool. Together, they thrived! Corn offered support, Bean gave nourishment, and Squash provided protection. They were stronger as one, each sister enchancing the others’ gifts.”

The tribe celebrated their harvest with a grand feast, honoring the Three Sisters and the wisdom they had imparted. From that day on, they tended their fields with the knowledge that unity and support could overcome even the greatest challenges.

Please celebrate this timeless tradition with our unique cottages: Hope (corn), Faith (bean), and Charity (squash). Our 3 Sisters plants are thriving! Come and enjoy the experience as we grow!
